The tournament, known as "Best Foot Forward", raises funds for local charities which
support causes shared by the World Bank staff members. Teams pay a fee to play in the
tournament and nominate a charity they play for. The prize fund is then divided among
the charities nominated by the winning teams. To date, the tournament has raised nearly
$50,000 for Washington, DC area charities.
The tournament is organized by the World Bank staff volunteers and is supported by the
World Bank's Outreach Program which covers the costs of renting playing fields and
hiring tournament referees. This year's tournament will take place at the Bretton Woods
Recreation Center on Saturday, July 10. We expect more than 24 teams (or some
200+ people) to take part in the tournament this year.
